Mark Hawkins, who was named controller in August 2009, oversees financial accounting and reporting, payment and payroll services, financial aid and gift accounting for the university.
Prior to his appointment, Mark spent four years in the Controller's Office as assistant controller - Financial Accounting. During that time he has was responsible for the university's audited financial statements and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and other external regulatory and donor accounting and reporting requirements. In addition, he has overseen significant improvements in the department's analytical and processing work and partnered with various functions throughout the university to enhance routine financial reporting tools, training and cross-functional processes and systems.
Mark previously served as an accounting manager and was hired as a senior accountant in the Controller's Office at DePaul. In addition to his experience at DePaul, Mark worked in tax and assurance positions at Deloitte & Touche LLP and Arthur Andersen. Mark received both his bachelor's degree in accounting and his MBA from DePaul.
