David Miller became Interim Provost on August 1, 2014. He is concurrently serving as Dean of the College of Computing and Digital Media, a position he has held since 2005. He joined the faculty of the Department of Computer Science at its founding in 1981. He has served as Associate Dean for the School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI) since its inception in 1995. The school became the College of Computing and Digital Media in 2008. Miller received his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Chicago. Amid eclectic interests in computer science, he did work on industrial applications of artificial intelligence; he is currently involved in porting the Clojure programming language to the .Net runtime.
