David Lively, a 15-year veteran of higher education fundraising, is vice president for Development. Appointed to the position in February 2009, he leads a team of fundraisers, which includes major and planned giving as well as corporate and foundation relations.

Lively joined DePaul in December 2002. He has held the positions of associate vice president and director of campaign fundraising, senior director of Development for the College of Commerce, senior director of special gifts, and interim director of Development for Athletics. He was interim vice president for Development immediately prior to his current appointment.

When he was associate vice president, Lively led a major gifts team that increased the volume of major gifts and pledges by a record 74 percent in fiscal year 2007, resulting in a 170 percent increase in revenue, from $10.7 million in 2006 to more than $29 million in 2007. Additionally, Lively personally made or managed more than 100 solicitations, raising more than $7 million between 2006 and 2008.

Prior to DePaul, he worked in fundraising at the University of Denver, Northwestern University School of Law and the University of Colorado Foundation Inc.

Lively received his bachelor's degree in history from Southern Methodist University (SMU). He also holds a master's degree in history from Colorado State University and an MBA from the University of Denver. He has served on SMU's alumni board and has been an active volunteer for his alma mater for a decade. He is a member of the school board at the Baker Demonstration School, an independent pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school in suburban Wilmette.
