You may pursue an internship for many reasons: to earn academic credit through experiential learning, to gain career experience, to fulfill a work-study requirement, to begin building a professional network and to earn money. About 2,000 undergraduates complete internships for academic credit through DePaul every year.
The University Internship and Co-op Program, operated by the Career Center, matches nearly 1,000 students every year with internships (usually lasting a quarter) and co-op positions (lasting up to three years) in their career field or another field of interest. All internships and co-ops qualify for academic credit as well as fulfill students' experiential learning requirement. More than three-quarters are paid. You may convert an existing job into an internship or co-op if it meets the program requirements.
In addition, every undergraduate college and school at DePaul offers internships for academic credit through most of their departments. Many of these internships are paid positions. For information about these internships, contact your college office.
Lastly, there are thousands of internships and part-time jobs that do not qualify for academic credit, but do provide pay and/or work experience, available through both department offices and the Career Center.
