The Latin American and Latino Studies Program explores the cultural contributions of Latin Americans to the global community and highlights perspectives and traditions that have developed in the region. It analyzes the multicultural character of the peoples of Latin America by calling attention to the complex interplay among Indigenous, European, Semitic, and African societies in the region. It explores the profound linkages that have emerged between Latin America and the United States, particularly through the construction of Latino communities in the U.S.

The program offers an analysis of Latin America's history, its political, social and economic characteristics, and its languages and other forms of cultural expression. Latin American/Latino Studies is designed to deepen interdisciplinary and multicultural understanding at DePaul University.
An interdisciplinary examination of historical, economic and cultural aspects of Latin America, this program helps prepare students for careers in government or business as well as teaching and community work.
Chicago's large Latino population traces its origins to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba and beyond. The city's Latino neighborhoods represent a stepping stone to understanding Latin American societies. Additionally, The Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum is the largest Latino culture organization in the country and the only Latino museum accredited by the American Association of Museums.
