As a Journalism major, you will develop a skill set that will prepare you for a career in the print, broadcast or online media industries. Because the field of journalism is constantly evolving with the use of new technology, you will learn about industry trends and how to use professional equipment, software and online tools.
The flexible, hands-on curriculum offers courses that focus on a variety of topics, allowing you to take those that are most appealing to you. Courses include:
- Feature writing
- International reporting
- Magazine reporting
- News editing
- Online journalism
- Radio news
- Sports reporting
- Television news
- Writing for broadcast
You will have access to DePaul's green screen studio, control room, editing suites and the digital equipment facility.
With this program, you may choose to concentrate in Latino Media & Communication. This concentration will teach you how to think critically about all aspects of media and communication, with a particular focus on Latino media and Latino communities.
The Journalism program is located in downtown Chicago, at DePaul's Loop campus, giving you access to many media outlets and allowing you to meet and work professionally with leading companies in the industry.
We also offer combined bachelor's/master's degree programs, which allow you to complete a bachelor's degree and a graduate degree in five years. You may choose to combine your BA in Journalism with one of the following master's degree programs:

- Media and Cinema Studies
- Organizational and Multicultural Communication
- Relational Communication
