In the Scenic Design program you will learn to visualize and create the physical elements of on-stage performances. You will collaborate with directors, dramaturges, technicians and the Scene Shop staff to build your set designs. 

As a Scenic Design major, you will take courses in:

  • Survey of art
The Theatre School presents more than 40 public productions each season, for which you will have the opportunity to work as assistant and lead scenic designer. You will learn from distinguished and award-winning faculty, many of whom are professional designers and artists. 

In your fourth year of the program, you will do a scenic design internship in order to gain real-world experience. At the end of your fourth year, you will have the chance to take part in the annual Graduate Showcase, where you will present your designs to artistic directors and other members of the theatre, film and television industries.
