General Admission Requirements

Completed Application and Fee

Apply online and submit a $60 application fee. Online applicants may pay by credit card. Otherwise, fees may be paid by check or money order payable to DePaul University.

Resume/Curriculum Vitae

Include your professional resume. It should summarize your work experience and educational background. Limit it to two pages.

Official Transcripts

Send official transcripts from all universities, colleges or community colleges attended — including those from which no credit was earned. One of the transcripts must show the conferral of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Applications are considered incomplete until all transcripts are submitted.

Credentials for International Students/Programs

Applicants with non-U.S. educational credentials are required to submit their official credentials (e.g., transcripts, mark sheets, degree certificates, graduation diplomas) and evaluation fee directly to one of the three evaluation companies:

These evaluators provide DePaul with a general evaluation of your studies and certified copies of international educational credentials, which will be used during admission review. Please direct any questions about required credentials to the evaluation company you select.

Applicants must submit transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Exceptions may be permitted for study-abroad credit when that credit is clearly defined and displayed on the home institution transcript.

English Proficiency

Non-native English speakers who have not completed a bachelor's or master's degree in the U.S. should submit scores from a recognized English proficiency test. The Kellstadt Graduate School of Business accepts results from TOEFL, IELTS and the Pearson Test of English (PTE).

Students who otherwise have a strong overall academic record, but cannot demonstrate the necessary English proficiency (80 (min. 20 each part) on the iBT, 550 (min 55 each part) on the PBT or 6.5 on the IELTS, 59 on the PTE), may apply for admission to the combined Kellstadt Graduate School of Business/English Language Academy (KGSB/ELA) Program. Such applicants admitted to the combined KGSB/ELA Program will begin their studies in the English Language Academy (ELA) for language improvement while conditionally admitted to the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business (KGSB). All such students must successfully complete the ELA’s University Bridge Certificate prior to enrollment in Kellstadt classes.

There are two ways for students to be considered for the combined Kellstadt/ELA:

English Proficiency Exam

To apply for admission using English Proficiency, a student must present one of the following scores:

  • 55-89 on the iBT TOEFL exam
  • 480-576 on the paper-based TOEFL exam
  • 5.5-6.0 on the IELTS exam
  • 42-58 on the PTE exam
ELA Placement Test

Students whose language skills do not meet the above English proficiency standards may still qualify for conditional admission based on their performance on the Preliminary ELA Placement Test. The ELA Placement Test is available online at http://ela.depaul.edu/docs/docs/Application_Essay_Form.pdf. Prospective students seeking admission to the Kellstadt/ELA program under this option should submit both their ELA Placement Test and Kellstadt Graduate School of Business application directly to the Office of Admissions for the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. For more information, please contact the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business admissions coordinator at kgsb@depaul.edu.

Essay Questions (MBA Applicants Only)

All MBA applicants must complete the two essay questions included in the admission application.

Personal Statement (MS Degree Applicants only)

All MS program applicants need to provide a personal statement, no more than 2 pages in length, outlining their personal goals in pursuing the MS degree program.

GMAT/GRE

Submit GMAT or GRE scores as noted below.

  • Applicants to the specialized masters programs may submit either GRE or GMAT scores.
  • Applicants to the MBA programs must submit GMAT scores.

GRE information can be obtained at ets.org/gre. Like the GMAT, GRE scores are only valid for five years.

Exceptions to the GMAT or GRE requirement can be made for applicants to the following programs, with the following qualifications:

  • MS in Taxation or Master of Accountancy (MACC) applicants who have evidence of CPA licensure or passage of all four parts of the CPA examination.
