The New GI Bill: The Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008/Post 09/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) is effective August 1, 2009. This program provides comprehensive educational benefits to veterans who served after September 11, 2001. Some of its features include:
Please note: The Illinois Veteran's Grant (IVG) is not available for students at DePaul. Currently it is only available to students attending Illinois public universities.
If you're not sure what your benefits are, contact the VA office in St. Louis at 888-442-4551; follow the instructions for a rotary phone and you'll be connected with a counselor. You also may request information through the Veteran's Affairs web site.
VA benefit application processes vary from program to program. The best place to obtain VA educational benefit application forms is at the VA web site (www.gibill.va.gov). Once you have completed your VA educational benefit application forms, you should contact our office at (312) 362-8091 (option 5) or complete our Request for Certification of VA Educational Benefits Form and submit it to our office.
