All federal student loan recipients who have applied for graduation are required to complete on-line exit counseling prior to graduation. This exit counseling will help you understand the next steps with your student loans, whether you are going on to graduate school or entering the work force.
As you complete your exit counseling, pay special attention to:
Remember: Do not hesitate to directly contact the Direct Loan Servicer or any other lender if you if you have questions about loan consolidation or repaying your student loans. Do not hesitate to ask questions of your lenders or the financial aid staff. The Direct Loan website will give you your entire Direct Loan borrowing history at DePaul. If you have federal loans from other schools, you may wish to visit the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to view your entire post-secondary borrowing history.
How To Complete the On-Line Exit Counseling Requirement
If you have borrowed a Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized or Grad Plus Loan, please visit the Direct Loan Exit Counseling website. You will need your FAFSA pin number to access the Direct Loan Exit Counseling.
The Office of Financial Aid will receive confirmation upon your completion of this requirement.
Federal Perkins Loans
If you have borrowed under the Federal Perkins Loan program, you will also need to complete exit counseling for your Perkins Loan. The Student Accounts Office will send you an exit packet in your final term before graduation. You will need to complete this packet and return the required forms to the Student Accounts Office. If you are graduating and have not yet received your Perkins exit packet, please contact the Student Accounts Office at (312) 362-6628.
