INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS


Admission Instructions

International Applicants must complete all the above requirements. To apply for a Master's/Doctorate program, the applicant must have received a bachelor's degree from an accredited American college or an equivalent degree from an institution outside the U.S. Generally, an equivalent degree is earned by completing 12 years of primary and secondary school followed by 4 years of college study. In addition to satisfying the standard application requirements, the following admission requirements must be met before any decision will be made on your application:

Evidence of Legal Status
If on an F, J, or other visa and already in the U.S., provide a copy of a valid passport, visa page, and I-94 form. If a permanent resident, provide an Alien Registration number on the application.

Visa Information
Submit a photocopy of a valid visa if one has been issued.

Credentials
Applicants who have completed their studies outside the United States must submit all post-secondary school credentials, including grades or examination results, degrees, dipolmas, and certificates earned. Documents must becertified true copies or originals from each secondary and post-secondary school attended. Records not in English must be accompanied by a translation. Translations should be prepared by a university professor who teaches English or by a government or professional translating service. Each school record should be accompanied by a grading scale. Upon arrival at DePaul, ORIGINALS of all transcripts for which certified copes were used in the admission decision must be submitted before a student may register for classes or be awarded transfer credit.

English Proficiency
Evidence of English proficiency must be submitted unless the native language is English. Those students with undergraduate degrees from non-U.S.A. institutions must sumbit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 590 is required for admission consideration. Students in the Chicago area may contact the Educational Testing Service (847) 869-7700 to arrange to take the exam locally. If outside the Chicago area, contact Test of English as a Foreign Language, Box 6151, Princeton, New Jersey 08540-6151, USA, telephone (609) 882-6601, for information. Test results should be sent to the DePaul Admissions Office (DePaul Code: 1165). DePaul does not offer intensive English courses; therefore, evidence of proficiency must be provided before an admission decision will be made.

Evidence of Financial Support
If applying for a student visa, evidence of adequate financial backing to meet the costs (including tuition, fees and living expenses) of at least one full academic year must be submitted. Evidence that this money is available must be provided by an Affidavit of Support signed by a sponsor. The affidavit must indicate in U.S. dollars the total amount available from a) personal funds, b) family funds from abroad or c) funds from another source (specify the type and source). Evidence of additional funds must be provided for accompanying family members. Tuition is based on full-time enrollment in the Autumn, Winter, and Spring Terms. Living expenses are based on off-campus housing and may vary according to individual arrangements. The estimated yearly costs are:
