Application Fee
The application fee is $25 if you apply online. Make your check payable to DePaul University. Send in your application fee, and be sure to write your name and social security number on the check. When it arrives at DePaul, we will match it up with your application. You should send in your application fee as soon as possible after submitting the application.


Application Deadlines

  • Fall (September)- August 1
  • Winter (January)- November 1
  • Spring (March/April)- March 1
  • Summer (June)- May 1

Students who apply for admission after the deadline will have their application considered on a space available basis.

Proof of English Competency

All students educated outside of the United States must submit proof of English proficiency. A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (or 213 on the computer-based test) is required for all applicants who intend to take undergraduate classes as a non-degree student.


Changing Student Status

Applicants wishing to change from non-degree to degree seeking status must submit the following:

  • Application for admission-either the freshman or transfer/adult student application.
  • Official transcripts from all schools attended
  • A $30 non-refundable application fee


Requirements by Student Type

Please choose your student status from the following student types:

Student-at-Large
Description: Students currently attending another institution who will transfer credit back to another school.

Items Required: Copy of a current undergraduate transcript (check with your individual college to determine whether an official transcript is required). Transcript must indicate student is in good academic standing.

Graduate School Preparation
Description: Students with an undergraduate degree who are taking courses as preparation for a graduate-level program.

Items Required: Copy of a current undergraduate transcript (check with your individual college to determine whether an official transcript is required). Transcript must indicate student is in good academic standing.

Personal Interest
Description: Students with an undergraduate degree who wish to take courses for personal interest.

Items Required: Copy of a current undergraduate transcript (check with your individual college to determine whether an official transcript is required). Transcript must indicate student is in good academic standing.

Career Advancement
Description: Students who wish to take undergraduate courses as a part of their employment training.

Items Required: Letter from employer stating course is required for employment.

Accounting Studies
Description: Students with an accredited undergraduate business degree who wish to take courses in preparation for the CPA Exam.

Items Required: Copy of a current undergraduate transcript (check with your individual college to determine whether an official transcript is required). Transcript must indicate student is in good academic standing. Contact Accounting Studies Coordinator at 312-362-5379 to verify eligibility or for questions.

Certificate Program
Description: Students with an undergraduate degree who wish to earn either Teacher Certification or a Cartography/Geographic Information Systems certificate.

Items Required: Copy of a current undergraduate transcript (check with your individual college to determine whether an official transcript is required). Transcript must indicate student is in good academic standing. Contact the School of Education at 773-325-7740, or the Department of Geography at 773-325-7669.

Graduating High School Students
Students who have recently graduated from high school and wish to take courses to transfer to another college.

Items Required: Final high school transcript (official copy only).

Current High School Students
Description: Current high school students wishing to take a summer course.

Items Required: Current high school transcript and a letter from a counselor indicating academic standing and readiness for college coursework.

(Summer Only): Chicago Public School Students may apply for the CPS Bridge Program. For more information please go to http://depaul.edu/emm/about/bridge.asp.
