The Minor in Professional Writing is available to any student in the university. Courses in the program are designed to enhance students' capacity to excel as writers in their major programs and prepare students as effective writers for any occupation in which writing is a key competency. The program assumes that the capacity to “write well” extends beyond correctness and form to the analysis of contexts in which written messages circulate. The program is comprised of two required core courses and four electives, which may be chosen from among the department's undergraduate offerings numbered 203 and above.
Students majoring in Writing, Rhetoric and Discourse (BA) are restricted from earning this minor.
