The mission of the Division of Enrollment Management and Marketing (EM&M) is to improve and enhance DePaul University’s competitive market position and prominence in order to increase DePaul’s capacity to achieve strategic goals in a manner consistent with DePaul’s Catholic, urban and Vincentian character.
Improving DePaul’s market position focuses particularly on the university’s competitive posture and presence among college-bound students. DePaul’s market prominence emphasizes the strategic value of improving the visibility and reputation of the university and its programs. These goals require the integrated efforts of a wider array of functions than simply student recruitment; they also call for integrating functions such as institutional marketing, community outreach and employer relations.
The scope of EM&M at DePaul differs from the traditional structure found in higher education. In fact, the evolution of DePaul’s enrollment management model has attracted attention as one of the most integrated, innovative approaches, and has been recognized nationally as a “best practice.”
EM&M carries out its mission through the following strategic groups:
Admission and Financial Aid
Admission and Financial Aid have the primary responsibility for achieving university enrollment goals.
University Marketing
The areas of University Marketing Strategy and University Marketing Communications bring an integrated marketing perspective to the core communication activities at DePaul.
Career and Money Management
Career and Money Management gives students the opportunity to gain skills and connections that are necessary to define a career path, manage their money and find gainful and rewarding employment both during their college years and after graduation. These services also enhance institutional prominence by establishing connections with top employers.
Center for Access and Attainment
The Center for Access and Attainment serves as a focal point for dialogue, strategy and action concerning college access and attainment, consistent with DePaul’s vision to exceed national norms in recruiting, retaining and graduating a diverse student body, with an emphasis on first-generation and low-income students in the Chicago area.
Student Records, Systems and Services
The areas of Student Records and Enrollment Systems & Operations provide information management that is central to many activities within the division, as well as services that assist students with the core administrative details of their education at DePaul, such as registering for courses.
Institutional Research & Market Analytics
The area of Institutional Research & Market Analytics provides information for university planning and management and manage the data infrastructure for decision and planning support.
Division Planning and Management
As the main support area for the senior vice president, Division Planning and Management supports divisionwide strategic initiatives and leads projects and communications for the more than 250 employees within the division.
