Alumni and Friends Celebrate Inaugural DePaul Blue Demon Day
On Saturday, Feb. 2, DePaul hosted the inaugural Blue Demon Day, which generated great turnout from all members of the university community. Students, faculty, staff and alumni donned their favorite DePaul gear–including special Blue Demon Day T-shirts–to cheer for the men's basketball team as it took on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Allstate Arena.
Before the game, alumni mingled in the Skyline Room and enjoyed a tasty lunch. The Blue Demons played valiantly in front of an energetic and supportive hometown crowd, taking the game into overtime, but they ultimately succumbed 79-71 to a tough Notre Dame squad. Beyond Chicago, alumni and friends gathered in 13 different cities around the country to catch the game on ESPN2. With game-watches from California to New York, Blue Demons shared memories and rooted for their alma mater from afar.
All told, Blue Demon Day brought together more than 500 enthusiastic DePaul fans for a national demonstration of school spirit and pride.
