School of Cinematic Arts launches SCA Alumni Vision Fund to empower bold filmmaking

New initiative invests in alumni with resources, industry access, and production support

DePaul film and TV grads with big ideas will soon have a new way to bring them to life. DePaul’s School of Cinematic Arts is launching the SCA Alumni Vision Fund to help alumni transform ambitious ideas into professionally executed proof-of-concept films. The competitive program is open exclusively to School of Cinematic Arts alumni, and graduates from all years are invited and encouraged to apply.

"Too often, universities only reach out to alumni when asking for support. We want to change that by being a resource that supports our graduates throughout their professional and creative journeys. The SCA Alumni Vision Fund is about turning momentum into opportunity and helping bold, original ideas take their first real step toward the screen," says Daniel Klein, professor and director of industry engagement for the School of Cinematic Arts.

The SCA Alumni Vision Fund will award one recipient with approximately $100,000 of in-kind support, including three days of soundstage access at DePaul Cinespace Studios, professional cameras, grip and lighting equipment, additional production resources, and a $5,000 cash grant to support production needs. In addition to resources, industry-connected faculty, staff, and partners will guide selected filmmakers through development and production, creating meaningful mentorship opportunities.

Submissions are now open through early March. The selected project will be announced in April, with production planned for the summer.

This initiative builds on DePaul’s rising reputation in the film school space. In the fall, The Hollywood Reporter ranked DePaul’s School of Cinematic Arts among the Top 10 film schools in the nation, the only Midwest school to earn this distinction.
