I chose to major in Communication because... communication is essential in every field. Studying communication has allowed me to learn about many transferable skills that I can apply to any industry. As a result, I feel confident that I can communicate effectively in interviews, presentations and other situations that occur in any workplace.

My favorite thing to do on campus is... see what events are happening on in the Quad, on the Lincoln Park Campus. I have been able to participate in many events, put on by student organizations, just by walking through the Quad. This offers a great insight into DePaul’s student body, the issues that matter to them, and of what they are capable.

I decided to attend DePaul because... it is located in the best city in the world. DePaul offers a plethora of opportunities, as it is located in Chicago. DePaul offers access to all of the city’s best resources. I also chose to attend DePaul because of the great programs it offers. I knew that studying Communication at DePaul would give me the knowledge and skills to enter any career that I wanted.

The class I most enjoyed here was... Topics in TV Production. It’s hard to choose a favorite class because I found so many of them to be valuable, but Topics in TV Production was such a great class because it gave me hands on experience and directly related to my career interests. In this class I wrote, filmed, edited and performed in my own video segments. The interactive nature of this course gave me a comprehensive knowledge of the role of the television producer.

When I have free time, I like to... go downtown to Millennium Park and the museum campus. It's a beautiful part of the city and we are very fortunate as a community to have such cultural accomplishments in our backyard.

The greatest thing about going to school in Chicago is... having access to all of the resources this city has to offer. Chicago offers many professional opportunities, but also offers opportunities to explore diverse cultures and serve the city’s communities.

At DePaul, service learning is... a way of life and one of its core values. DePaul operates under the philosophy that personal success is not possible without helping others to succeed as well. Service learning is a dynamic way of learning from experience and other people.

One of the things that has been unique about my College of Communication experience... is being able to directly apply what I have learned in the classroom to real workplaces. The College of Communication prepares its students to confidently enter any workplace. Through valuable internships, I have been able to put what I have learned at DePaul to use.

The best thing about DePaul is... the people. The faculty, staff and students at DePaul are warm and support each other. Maybe, since DePaul is located in Chicago, people here follow that friendly Midwestern mentality. The people at DePaul form a strong community that has always made me feel welcome.

After graduation, I plan to... attend graduate school at DePaul. The College of Communication has accepted me into its Media, Culture and Society program. I have been so impressed by DePaul’s faculty and enjoyed my experience here so much that I have decided to continue my education here.

The one thing I'd like to say to students considering DePaul... is that DePaul has an outstanding faculty, staff and student body. The faculty will challenge you and give you the tools to succeed at DePaul and in the workplace. The staff will help you have the best collegiate experience and direct you towards DePaul’s and Chicago’s many opportunities. You will also learn from and grow with DePaul’s student body and find lifelong friends. I hope others find a home in DePaul as I have.
