I chose to major in Communication because... DePaul offers a more focused concentration in media and advertising, enabling me to enhance my persuasive methods in the mecca of advertising, here in Chicago.

I decided to transfer to DePaul because... it has the capacity to swiftly move on evolving trends within the industry. The Public Relations and Advertising graduate program, although relatively new, has already showed great progress and promise for incorporating ever-changing ideas into the classroom. This fast-acting model enables students to identify, utilize and pioneer innovative, emerging media.

The learning environment here at DePaul is... awesome. DePaul is nestled in the middle of opportunity, enabling graduates prime gigs at top agencies, Fortune 500 companies and innovative start-ups. With state-of-the-art classrooms and nationally recognized faculty, DePaul's learning environment seamlessly fosters world leaders, innovators and trendsetters across a multitude of disciplines.

The class I most enjoyed here was... seriously, I cannot choose. Dr. Whalen, Dr. Morris and Dr. Gillespie have all made a tremendous impact on my education, career and professional development. They have all gone over and above to ensure students are on the cusp of modern communication theories and ideas, while fostering forward thinking and future possibilities today.

When I have free time, I like to... play guitar in my band The Whiskey Drifters, tour, write, produce shorts, freelance (copywriting) and hang out with Katy, my fiancé.

My favorite thing to do off campus is... play tennis, hang out on the beach, watch OSU games at Mickey's, walk around downtown, people watch. There’s always a plethora of things to do around here.

One thing I didn’t know about DePaul before coming was... how awesome the student centers were. They're phenomenal.

The thing that differentiate being a College of Communication student at DePaul from other universities is... is how much one-on-one time you get with the professors. They are always open to talk after class hours. Some of the most insightful conversations I’ve had with professors were outside the classroom or right after class.

The best thing about DePaul is... the people who make up the university. Always willing to help, always trying to improve - it’s hard not to want to be involved with everything that goes on here.

My greatest success as a student here has been... applying class discussion on social media to add new product offerings for my agency and Fortune 500 clients. It’s more than just Facebook apps, viral campaigns and enhanced brand experience — it’s the ability to identify, utilize and pioneer social media for client objectives.

The one thing I’d like to say to students considering DePaul... is to choose wisely. If you’re looking for tremendous opportunity; if you have an insatiable thirst for cutting-edge creative marketing communication, strategy and advertising technique – your guilty pleasure is right here, at DePaul.
