Determined, adventurous, creative.
Most important thing I’ve learned so far in my major:
Being successful at your craft requires a lot of time, effort and dedication.
Biggest goal in life:
To make a living doing what I love and never having to settle for a different career.
Can’t live without:
Favorite place at DePaul:
The makeup shop at The Theatre School. There are so many fun products to work with.
Favorite academic project:
My final project for Advanced Makeup, where I designed the makeup for a sea monster character. I had to make a silicone prosthetic and ventilate a wig front, and make the creature look realistic using the appropriate paint.
Love going to school in Chicago because:
There are so many job opportunities.
I’ve always wanted to:
Backpack around Europe, which I’m going to do when I study abroad in London!
Best place to eat on/off campus:
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
Scenic charge artist at a large Chicago theatre or scenic studio, such as The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf or Chicago Scenic Studios.
Favorite Theatre School production so far:
Hedda Gabler. As the scenic designer for the show, it was a great experience to work with fellow designers and to see my design become a realized production. It was a challenge, but it made me a better designer and collaborator.
As a theatre student, going to school in Chicago allows me to:
Make lots of professional connections in the theatre industry. Our professors and staff do a lot of work in the Chicago theatre community, and it’s very helpful to have guidance from professionals. In addition, because there are so many theatres in Chicago, it’s easy to get a job while in school.
