The Office of Student Life recognizes all DePaul student organizations (undergraduate, graduate, and Law).  We have over 225 student organizations and new student organizations are starting every quarter.  Over 2,000 students are members of student organizations at DePaul.

Demon Direct is an on-line tool that provides direct access to student involvement opportunities at the DePaul University. Demon Direct allows the DePaul community to browse our various student organizations, view the events calendar, join an organization, start a new student organization, or communicate within one’s own student group.  In order to log onto Demon Direct, please use your DePaul Campus Connection username and password.
 
Involvement Fairs at DePaul are great opportunities to learn more about student organizations.  Student leaders and members host tables at both campuses in the Fall and Winter quarters. Check the Office of Student Life for more event details.

TYPES OF STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS



Academic/ Professional
Academic/Professional student organizations are organizations that have an interest in a specific career in which you can receive a graduate/ law degree, certificate or license at DePaul. These student organizations may be undergraduate student organizations that are related to an academic program. These student organizations enhance the education offered in classes with various types of events such as competitions, guest speakers, conferences, and networking opportunities.
 
Activist/Political
Activist/ Political student organizations engage in civic issues related to or deals with the structure or affairs of government, politics, or the state; and/or is influenced by partisan interests.
 
Cultural
Cultural and identity-based student organizations are ones that promotes knowledge of and/or involvement in such areas as: diversity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, identity and race. These groups are devoted to bring together students who have a common interest in promoting intellectual and social discussions about their diverse yet common interests. A goal for cultural organizations is to work towards creating a diverse and prejudice-free environment.
 
Departmental
Departmental student organizations are essential to carry out the functions, business, educational program, or desires of department(s) of the University.  These organizations are not connected to an academic program.
 
Fraternity/ Sorority
Fraternity/ Sorority organizations are social/service organizations which are recognized by one of DePaul's three governing councils: the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), or the Panhellenic Council (PC).
 
Honorary
Honorary student organizations, typically national in nature, that seeks to recognize and connect students who excel in one or more of the following areas: their field of discipline, overall academics and leadership on campus.  Membership is often invitation based on G.P.A., class standing, and involvement.
 
Media/Entertainment
Media student organizations primarily focus on the means of mass communication, such as newspapers, magazines, radio, digital media, or television. The entertainment student organizations focus on performance, talent, and creative skills to entertain an audience. 
 
Religious/Spiritual
Religious/spiritual student organizations promote the use of worship, religious observance, prayer, or the study of religious literature as a main purpose for activity, membership is generally recognized as a religious sect, and/or show beliefs in and admiration for God or a deity for a particular religion.
 
Service
Service student organizations are ones that engage and promote involvement in various forms of community service. They accomplish this in various ways such as: volunteering their time in direct service, philanthropic fundraising and/or raising awareness for a specific cause, just to name a few.  While unique in their membership and service area focus, what unifies all of the organizations is their dedication for engaging DePaul students in positive social change at DePaul, within the Chicago community and beyond.
 
Sports/Recreation
Sports/ recreation student organizations provide opportunities for their members to participate in athletic, creative, or performance based activities in a team environment fostering healthy competition.  Activities can be club sport, performance, or instructional based.
