My favorite thing to do on campus is… go to the Ray Meyer to work out. I think that DePaul has one of the best fitness and recreation facilities in the city. It has four full basketball courts, a swimming pool, plenty of workout stations, a wellness center and much more.

I decided to attend DePaul because… it is in the middle of one of the liveliest sections of Chicago. There is never a dull moment.

The class I most enjoyed here was… Understanding Evil with Professor Peg Birmingham. The discussions were interesting and I learned a lot more than expected. It has really changed how I view the world. It’s the only philosophy class I have ever enjoyed. I even kept all of the books.

My favorite thing to do off campus is… go to the Green Dolphin. You have to be 21 to get in, but it’s one the best jazz clubs in the city.

One thing I didn’t know about DePaul before coming was… how fast the quarter system really is. Before you know it, you’re taking midterms. It’s something that you have to get used to, but after a while it’s a piece of cake.

The greatest thing about going to school in Chicago is… the CTA and having a U-Pass. No matter where you want to go in the city, you can get there relatively fast and free.

The Honors Program at DePaul… is challenging but worth it. Every job that I have interviewed for has asked me about my work within the Honors Program. It is looked at with high regard, because it demonstrates your ability to work in a challenging environment. It has helped me in my career search as well as my everyday life.

The best thing about DePaul is… the small class sizes. Most classes have about 25 enrolled students, and so each professor is able to give personal attention to each student. I think this personal attention has contributed greatly to my development and growth.

What I remember most about my first quarter at DePaul is… how much of an adjustment it was. The transition from high school to college class work was a bit harder than I expected. But, there is always someone available to help at DePaul. Once I realized that, I was back to getting the grades I was used to.

After graduation, I plan to… continue my schooling. I currently work for Northwestern University doing research, but in the near future I will be returning to school in order to get an advanced degree in psychology or statistics.

The one thing I’d like to say to students considering DePaul… is that you won’t regret choosing DePaul. The students are great, the professors are wonderful and Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world.

As an honors student working in a research lab… I learned a lot and experienced even more. Being a research assistant [at DePaul] has taught me things about research that I could never learn in a classroom. As a research assistant I was able to conduct and analyze my own research. This provided me with me with insight to the daily life of a researcher. Because of this experience, I have learned what I want to do with my life. As a research assistant I was also offered plenty of opportunities to get more involved. For example, I was able to present my research and results to the Chicago Society for Neuroscience Meeting. The meeting had an Undergraduate Research Poster Competition in which I was fortunate enough to win 1st place. Conducting and presenting my own research are my greatest accomplishments to date, and they were only made possible through working in a research lab.
