I chose to study law because… as cliché as it may sound, I want to make a difference in the world by helping those less fortunate. I felt that the legal profession would best enable me to pursue this goal, as well as challenge me to develop into a stronger leader within my own community. The opportunities within this field in regards to career and personal development really made this the most worthwhile choice.
The law class I have most enjoyed here… Constitutional Process I. The Constitution is essentially the foundation of all law, and to be able to see how its interpretation has evolved over the course of this nation’s history is simply intriguing. I am also a huge political nerd, so that may play a factor in my enjoyment of this class.
When I have free time, I like to… run alongside Lake Michigan. However, free time is really hard to come by when classes are in session, so I usually just settle for Twitter and reading 'away' messages. I live an exciting life, I know.
Here, the diversity of students, faculty and staff is… phenomenal in many respects. The one thing I enjoy most about DePaul is being able to engage with individuals from various walks of life, because it exposes me to a myriad of ideas and beliefs that I would have never realized otherwise. Whether it is diversity in race, class, religion, sexual orientation, or any other such category, the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of another is an exceptional tool for any prospective law student.
DePaul's College of Law is unique compared to other schools I considered attending because... Although law school is generally competitive, the environment at DePaul is nothing like the cutthroat environments that most law schools are stereotyped to being. There exists a strong solidarity among the students at DePaul that I feel really enhances the law school experience. The students here are more interested in developing strong friendships and networking with their fellow peers than they are in getting ahead and leaving everyone else behind. This solidarity alone places DePaul on a pedestal by itself.
The instructors at DePaul's College of Law are... tough, but fair. In order to get the most out of your law school experience, you have to challenge yourself rather than solely focusing on the easiest means of attaining an A. The instructors that I have had so far have all been amazing with each professor challenging me to really know the material inside out. Without challenge, there is no progress and it is apparent that the instructors here abide by this maxim.
After graduation, I plan to… practice social justice. I have always had a passion for politics and would definitely want to enter the political arena as well. You can never have too many Indian politicians...
The one thing I’d like to say to students considering DePaul College of Law… to look beyond a law school’s national rankings in determining which one is the best fit for you. Whichever law school you choose, it is going to essentially be your home for the next 3-4 years, so be sure you select a school that you feel will best challenge you both academically and personally.
