I chose my major because... I have a strong desire to help people. Since I cannot be Superman, I had to find a field where I can use my skills to benefit others. Accounting caught my attention because I have strong analytical and mathematical skills. Now I can train to eventually help people with their money.

My favorite thing to do on campus is... play sports. Although DePaul does not have a football team, I picked up other sports that are just as fun. I play on the rugby team and I also frequent the Ray Meyer Fitness Center. I hope to revive the club wrestling team this winter. The most successful members of a community are also the most active mentally and physically.

I decided to attend DePaul because... it is the best fit for me. DePaul allows me to explore my individuality and keep my family in arms reach. I go to school in one of the best cities and I am still close enough to visit home whenever I want. I see my twin brother every day because he also attends DePaul.

The learning environment here at DePaul is... unique. If I want to study in silence, I go to the library. If I want to have a group study session, I go to the Student Center. DePaul accommodates the needs of every student, which helps make them more productive.

The class I most enjoyed here was... my focal point class. It was about generational theory. I got to spend class time watching movies that show the clichés of every generation. My favorite part of this class was that it gave me a sense of what growing up was like for past generations.

When I have free time, I like to... hang out and enjoy life. College can be very busy. Much of my time is spent going to or preparing for class and physical activity. This leaves little time to just hang out. In my free time, I like to watch or play sports and hang out with my fraternity brothers.

My favorite thing to do off campus is... explore the city. Although I grew up across the street from Chicago, there are still many aspect of Chicago culture that I have yet to experience. The architecture in Chicago is very interesting and seeing it is much better than any book or Web site.

One thing I didn’t know about DePaul before coming was... the diversity of the student population. Being the nation’s largest Catholic university can give a person the wrong idea about the actual student body. I meet people of all races, nationalities and religions.

Here, the diversity of students, faculty and staff... has given me an opportunity that most college students do not get. Instead of being around people who all have the same story, I get the whole book. I meet people from all over the world and learn how to relate to everyone.

My experience at DePaul as an accounting major... has been very enlightening. I have often found myself looking deeper into every aspect of business. Although these details may seem boring, I see it more as a science.

After graduation, I plan to... work at one of the big four firms. I want to work my way up the ladder. Then I will find a way to work for myself. By age 35, I plan to be married and achieving every possible goal I have set in my life.

The one thing I’d like to say to students considering DePaul... enter the journey of college life with enthusiasm and an open mind. College can be the best time of your life, if you live it. Make friends, join organizations and achieve goals. Go into every situation with a smile, an open hand and a joke or two.
