Area of Study:
English

I chose to study in the School for New Learning (SNL) because... the uniqueness of mapping out my educational path appealed to me. My focus area is designed to fit my interest in literature, and to help me reach my goal of becoming an English professor.

As a School for New Learning student, building my own customized program has... allowed me to satisfy course requirements in a variety of ways: SNL courses, courses outside of the program, proficiency exams and independent studies.

I decided to attend DePaul because... I was impressed by the commitment the SNL staff and faculty have to their students. Before the information session ended, I knew that DePaul was the right place for me to continue my education.

When I have free time, I like to... go out on the deck in the DePaul Center. It is a place where you can enjoy the sunshine, study or just kick back and relax. I always have a book and a pair of sunglasses in hand.

One thing I didn’t know about DePaul before coming was... that the university was founded in honor of Saint Vincent de Paul, a Roman Catholic priest who responded to his God-given duty to serve the needy.

My experience as an adult student at DePaul has been... extraordinary! I am in charge of my education, and I see a bright future. I have the freedom to take courses that I believe are important to my personal and professional goals.

My greatest success as a student here has been... my induction into the Golden Key International Honour Society. I have worked diligently to achieve academic excellence, and it has paid off. This has been a rewarding, enriching experience.

After graduation, I plan to... attend grad school. Completing my bachelor's degree is just one of many steps. As a trailblazer, my educational journey has just begun.
