Grading Policy and Scale
For
Dr. Jin Choi's Courses

A.    Grading Policy

In general, grading will be based on the following 6 components: Attendance if appropriate, term papers if any, quizzes if any, homeworks if any, and two exams of the midterm and the final.

No make-up exam or quiz will be allowed unless prior permission is granted.  No deadline extension for term papers or homewroks is allowed.  If you have to miss the scheduled exam or quiz, please discuss the matter with the instructor a week before the exam or quiz or arrange to take it BEFORE the scheduled date.  Your total points for the missed exam or quiz will be zero (0). If a make-up is to be given, it will be most likely to have a different format and may not match the difficulty level of the original exam or quiz.  A third-party note explaining the reason for not being able to take the scheduled exam or quiz is required unless waived by the instructor.  The make-up quiz or midterm exam must be taken before the class review of the quiz or the exam and the make-up final exam must be taken within the quarter immediately following the current quarter. No additional attempts to give make-up quizzes or exams will be made and thus, a failing grade of F will be given if the make-ups are not taken as stated above.  If a term paper or a homework is not turned in on time, it will not be graded and no points will be given.

Academic dishonesty such as plagerism, cheating, etc. is absolutely unaccepted and thus, will not be tolerated in any form or shape.  Anyone who is accused of such will receive a failing grade of F for the course and the incident will be immediately reported to the proper authority in the University.
