Customized Visit FAQ

Learn more about Customized Visits with these details. To schedule your visit, please review the calendar and request form.

Can parents join me?

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend any information sessions and tours. While parents can accompany their student to navigate between activities, we ask that students attend classes, meals, and overnight visits on their own.

Where should I park?

You should park in the Clifton Parking garage (2330 N. Clifton Ave). We will validate your parking at the Lincoln Park Welcome Center (2400 N. Sheffield).

Where do I check in?

Your itinerary will state on which campus you should check-in and pick up your materials. You will either go to the Lincoln Park Welcome Center (2400 N Sheffield) or the Loop’s Joan Wish Welcome Center (1 E Jackson). Your events may be split among both campuses, in which case you will receive a train pass and directions.

Can I bring a friend?

If you would like to attend a visit with a friend, they should complete their own registration for a customized visit.

Can I meet with a professor?

If you would prefer to meet with a professor rather than attend a class visit, please contact NCALLO@depaul.edu. As all components of a visit, this is on an as available basis and professor availability varies.

Can I see housing?

Housing is only available to be shown on our Friday tours.

Where do I go in case I have questions?

Please go to the Welcome Center at 2400 N. Sheffield if you are on the Lincoln Park Campus or the Joan Wish Welcome Center at 1 E. Jackson if you are on the Loop campus.

What if I can no longer attend?

Please email NCALLO@depaul.edu.

Where can I pick up my Ventra train pass or meal passes?

These items will be located inside of your customized visit folder. If you have a day visit, your folder should be picked up at on the campus from which you begin (noted in your itinerary). If you have an overnight visit, your host will have your materials.

How do I get between campuses?

You will be provided Ventra cards in order to travel on CTA trains as well as written instructions.

To the Loop: Take either a Red Line train to 95th and Dan Ryan (southbound) and exit at the Jackson stop, or take a Brown Line train to the Loop and exit at Harold Washington Library.

To Lincoln Park: Take either a Red Line train to Howard (northbound) or a Brown Line train to Kimball. Exit at the Fullerton stop.

What if I get lost?

Please contact your student host or call Freshman Admissions at 773-325-7500.

When will I receive my itinerary?

Tentative itineraries are sent about two weeks prior to your visit. Final itineraries are sent two to five business days before your visit.

Where do I meet my overnight host?

Brownstones Café at 2250 N. Sheffield, they will have your materials. You will each have each other’s contact information before meeting.

Do I need to buy my meals?

You will receive meal vouchers to cover you dinner on the night of your overnight visit, as well as breakfast and lunch (should you choose that option). These vouchers will cover a swipe in our dining hall or up to $10 in flex dollars at bodegas on campus.
