Arbin Smith was appointed as DePaul University’s chief of staff and vice president for strategic initiatives in November 2022.

An alumnus of the College of Communication, Smith returns after gaining more than 20 years of experience as a consultant with global consulting firms including The Hackett Group, Deloitte, EY and Accenture. He has dedicated his skills to helping others and has an extensive track record of successfully driving large-scale, complex transformations and engagement strategies.

Smith’s extensive experience includes counseling C-suite executives on internal and external branding and employee engagement strategies; working with academic medical centers and community hospitals during the challenging switch from paper to electronic records; and helping organizations drive greater efficiency and effectiveness in their HR operations.

Smith is a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the College of Communication. He also has served on the DePaul Alumni Board. He holds a master's degree in organizational communication from DePaul and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Columbia College.
