The Bilingual Education (BE) minor is open to all DePaul students interested in teaching in bilingual programs in various settings: in PK-12 schools (this minor covers all required courses for the IL state Bilingual Education Endorsement for those seeking teaching certification); teaching abroad; teaching in international schools; adult students; and working in centers, agencies and organizations that provide services to multilingual communities in the US and abroad.

The minor offers a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of bilingualism and biliteracy, cross-cultural dimensions, teaching and assessment practices, and the history, theory, research, and policy of bilingual education. Students interested in this minor should consult home college advisors to enroll.

Note: IL State Bilingual Education Endorsement requires proficiency in a language other than English.
