Create educational options for complex environments

The Curriculum Studies (EdD) program helps you develop the knowledge, skills and experience to lead the development of impactful programs for your students. Through rich collaborative analysis and discussion, you’ll be prepared to develop curriculum at the building, community or state level, take a faculty position in higher education or become a policy leader in curriculum development at a national level.

The program offers additional options: principal preparation, superintendent or teacher leadership. All classes meet in the evenings at the Lincoln Park Campus. The program can be completed in just over three years.

With over 800 public and private schools in the Chicago area, you will have the chance to work with a wide variety of students with a range of gifts, abilities and challenges.

Application Deadlines

  • Fall: August 15
  • Winter: December 1
  • Spring: March 1
  • Summer: May 1
Admission Requirements
Submit an online application, official transcripts, résumé, letters of recommendation, a personal statement and a writing sample.
Required Courses
You’ll take six core courses, five research courses, an elective, five concentration courses and choose between a capstone or dissertation. An internship is required for superintendent licensure.

Professor Kuzmic motivates his students to better understand their scholarly responsibility to the education system. He is driven by his own research in the areas of gender, teaching and education, democratic schooling, teacher professionalism, and the relationship between our understandings of democracy, and curriculum theory and practice.
