0Study the power of popular culture
The Media and Popular Culture degree combines coursework from film, television and radio to social media, gaming, and fandom. You will develop the critical tools necessary to thoughtfully and critically traverse our ever-expanding media landscape, as well as develop the kinds of creative and technological skills necessary to thrive in a changing media landscape. The program also explores how consumers of popular culture produce meaning as they work creatively, both individually and collectively, in fan communities and conventions.
While at DePaul, you will take classes from faculty publishing cutting edge research engaging with topics across the media and popular culture landscape. Our faculty bring expertise to diverse areas such as Latin American media, b-movies and comic book studies, queer media, fan studies, e-sports, and the musical. Students in the program will also have access to DePaul's green screen studio, control room, streaming lab, film editing suites and the digital equipment facility.
The College of Communication is located on both campuses (Loop and LPC), giving you access to many media outlets and allowing you to meet and work professionally with leading companies in the industry while allowing you to take classes in a traditional college environment.
We also offer the 3+3 BA/JD Program, which allows high-achieving first-year undergraduate students to be admitted simultaneously to the College of Communication (CMN) and the College of Law (LAW). You’ll complete your first three years in CMN and your final three years in LAW.
