Music Education

The graduate music education program offers certified/licensed music teachers the opportunity to earn a master's degree in a little over two years with courses in the evenings and summers. This program is now offered in a flex format. Students can choose to meet face-to-face or via Zoom based on their preferences and availability. This format offers the rigor of a traditional degree but allows for customization and flexibility. 

There is one-summer residency requirement (three weeks total) in which you will attend class in person. Housing options are available close to campus, if needed. However, all other classes provide the flex option. 

This flex modality allows teachers to balance education with work, family, and life and make graduate education more accessible to all without having to quit your job or pause your life to complete a degree. 

Educational theory and practice merge throughout course work, and students have the flexibility to select elective areas of study. The program culminates with a final paper or project, allowing students to research an area of special interest.

Candidates are required to hold an undergraduate music education degree and teacher licensure, as well as at least one year of teaching experience.
