DePaul University fosters unique opportunities for undergraduates to participate in research. Every interested DePaul undergraduate student, from every college and every major, can participate in research, frequently receiving academic credit or a stipend. DePaul also connects students with a variety of ways to showcase and share their work. Some highlights include:
Undergraduate Research Showcases
Undergraduate STEM Research Showcase
The Undergraduate STEM Research Showcase, hosted annually in November, gives DePaul students the invaluable experience of communicating their findings with the scientific community through poster presentations and research talks. The event celebrates the extraordinary quality and variety of research being conducted by DePaul undergraduates.
Chicago Area Undergraduate Research Symposium (CAURS)
This is an annual symposium for Chicago-area undergraduates, coordinated by a student board representing multiple colleges, including DePaul, Northwestern, Loyola, UChicago, UIC, and UIUC. Held each spring, CAURS provides students an opportunity to present their research, engage in discussions with colleagues, and to attend plenary and round-table discussions.
BIG EAST Student Research Poster Symposium
The event, held annually in March at Madison Square Gardens in NYC, highlights the outstanding work of undergraduate students in faculty-mentored research projects from each of the 11 universities in the BIG EAST Conference. DePaul selects five students to attend via a competitive process announced at the college level each winter.
DePaul Discoveries is a peer-reviewed undergraduate research journal published by DePaul University’s College of Science and Health.
Creating Knowledge is the journal of undergraduate scholarship and creative activity published annually by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences to showcase the best student work produced across all our programs of study.
