The Theatre School’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Stage Management provides training that blends management, design awareness, and technical theatre skills. The four-year curriculum is designed to reflect the professional stage management process, helping you develop the organizational and communication skills needed to manage live productions.
Throughout the program, you will work closely with directors, designers, actors, and professional production staff as part of The Theatre School’s production season. You will learn from experienced, award-winning faculty with diverse entertainment industry backgrounds, gaining personalized guidance both in the classroom and through hands-on production work. The program encourages you to build knowledge across all theatre departments, helping you grow into a well-rounded and collaborative production manager.

Christine Freeburg, the program head, has been a professional Stage Manager in Chicago and regionally for over 25 years. She brings both her experience and network to the classroom with guest lecturers from across the industry and the opportunity to observe rehearsals in some of the biggest theaters in Chicago.
