BIO

Aarón Siebert-Llera has been committed to social justice work for more than 20 years, a commitment that began while he was an undergraduate at San Francisco State University pursuing a BA in Raza Studies (Latino studies). After graduation, he served as an AmeriCorps fellow at an after-school program in San Francisco’s Excelsior District.

Aarón later moved to Chicago for graduate school, completing his MA in Interdisciplinary Studies at DePaul University before earning his JD from Loyola University Chicago. With a focus on civil rights, his legal career has included work as an immigrants’ rights attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois, legislative and litigation roles at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, community lawyering with the Inner-City Muslim Action Network, and teaching law in the Chicago Public Schools.

Community engagement has been a consistent thread in Aarón’s work, from his time as director of inclusion at The Morton Arboretum to his current role as assistant director in the Office of Professional & Career Development, where he works directly with College of Law students.
