Biography

Bright (Yue) Hong is an assistant professor at the Sc​hool of Accountancy & MIS in the Driehaus College of Business. Prior to joining DePaul, Hong was a visiting assistant professor of accounting at the University of Iowa and worked in the Financial Accounting Advisory Service for Ernst & Young in New York City. 


Hong's research examines human capital—its quality, sustainability, and accounting. Her dissertation, which examines how experiences of non-fit can improve complex audit judgments, was published in The Accounting Review, a top three journal in the field. Her collaborative work bridges academic rigor and practical impact. Her research on risk management for Robotic Process Automation was recognized by the American Accounting Association as research with societal impact and offered as a continuing professional education (CPE) course by the California CPA Society. Her research ​on auditor burnout and job design has been featured in California Management Review Insight. Her research on governance for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) has resulted in CPE training for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (DC Chapter). She has received competitive grants from the Center for Audit Quality, including the Research Advisory Board Grant and the Access to Audit Personnel Grant. Hong encourages her students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers in and outside of the classroom.​
