Christen Embry
BIO
Dr. Christen Embry is an adjunct professor in the College of Communication, teaching Public Speaking, Business and Professional Communication, Introduction to Fan Studies, and Intercultural Communication. Dr. Embry also works as a communications adjunct at National Louis University.
Prior to entering education, Dr. Embry worked in many different areas of communication, including journalism, public relations, small business marketing, and trade show management. She brings two decades of relevant work experience into the communication classroom.
A lifelong resident of Chicago’s south suburbs, she has been married since 1993 and has a child who graduated from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in agricultural and biological engineering.
Dr. Embry successfully defended her dissertation, Integrating Media Literacy into Undergraduate Core Classes, in October 2022, earning the title of Doctor of Education.
