BIO

David Hanley obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He has an M.S. and B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, also from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Before joining DePaul University, he was a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Informatics and Institute for Regeneration and Repair. While there, he worked on fiber optic shape estimation of continuum robots such as those used in robotic bronchoscopy.

His research areas include state estimation and robotics, especially when applied to healthcare and medical devices.
