BIO

Jaewon Oh is a full-time faculty member in the School of Public Service at DePaul University. His research examines state and local policy in public finance, with particular attention to how fiscal institutions shape government behavior across levels of government. His work contributes to debates on fiscal federalism by studying how state rules, oversight systems, and intergovernmental arrangements influence local financial condition.

His current research focuses on state and local finance, property taxation, capital budgeting, emergency financial management, collaborative governance, and regional governance. Across these projects, Jaewon studies how governments respond to fiscal constraints and how institutional design shapes fiscal capacity. His published work has appeared in the Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting, and Financial Management and Risk, Hazards & Crisis in Public Policy.

At DePaul, Jaewon teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in policy design and analysis, research methods, applied statistics, and quantitative public policy analysis. Since 2020, his university teaching has spanned public policy, public administration, leadership, quantitative methods, and nonprofit financial management.

Jaewon holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration, an M.A. in Public Policy, and a B.A. in Economics.
