BIO

Professor Cheng researches and teaches in the areas of criminal law and sentencing, race and the law, and restorative justice. He received his JD from Harvard Law School, his PhD from UC Irvine in sociocultural anthropology, and his undergraduate degree from Princeton University. Prior to teaching, he practiced in criminal defense with a focus on life history investigations in capital cases.
