Biography

Kevin Stevens is a professor emeritus in the School of Accountancy & MIS at the Driehaus College of Business. Stevens made countless contributions to students, colleagues, the DePaul community and the profession of accountancy during his tenure. He served on the faculty for 29 years in the areas of financial accounting, taxation, and the CPA Review program. He was the KPMG distinguished professor of accountancy. His academic research has focused on accounting education, ethics and tax issues. He has won several teaching and faculty excellence awards from DePaul.

Stevens led AACSB accreditation visits, helped devise strategies to revise the MBA and accounting curricula, expand program technology, raise scholarship funds, and increase enrollment. He directed the Master of Science in Accountancy program and the Strobel Accountancy Honors program. He served as president of Faculty Council, as associate dean at the college, as director of global initiatives for the college, and participated in three university and two college strategic planning committees, the university’s budget committee and tuition pricing committee.

Stevens worked closely with Ledger & Quill, the school’s alumni donor society, helping to steward major gifts supporting student scholarships, school activities, and faculty development. Outside of academia, Stevens has been an active board member for the Hyde Park Arts Center and the Institute for Spiritual Leadership, developing budget models and strategic plans for both organizations. He is a proud alumnus of DePaul, having earned his MS in Taxation. He continues his lifelong commitment to DePaul as a steering committee member of the DePaul Emeritus Society.
