Laura Sutphen is the founder of ANTIDOTE, a strategy consultancy that helps brands and organizations cure what ails them. ANTIDOTE specializes in brand reputation and social impact strategy to solve complex problems and help organizations keep their conscience.
Laura is an award-winning communications strategiest with more than 30 years of expertise in brand reputation, issues management, social impact and sustainability, and shaping campaigns and narratives for some of the world's biggest organizations and brands. Her specialty is partnering with mission-driven companies, organizations and leaders to articulate their vision and values in a world with increased expectation that business leadership must benefit society.
Known as a 'big idea' strategist with an instinct for connecting ideas that lead to enhanced reputation, Laura works at the intersection of strategy, innovation, communications and social good to help companies break through.
She has held executive leadership roles leading corporate reputation and social impact at global agencies and boutique firms including GOLIN, Ketchum, Kill & Knowlton and DDB as well as starting and leading her own agency for more than a decade. She's drove strategy and communications for clients across industries including Walmart, Procter & Gamble, Sephora, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Tapestry, Lego, L'oreal, eBay, Clif Bar & Company, Organic Valley, PepsiCo, NextEra & for mission-driven organizations including Advancement Project, Jamie Oliver Food Foundation, Peninsula Community Foundation, Aspire Public Schools, and the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health.
In addition, Laura led communications at Amazon focused on customer trust. There, she reshaped a global team around a united vision and drove alignment of corporate reputation and issues/crisis communications on topics including counterfeit, authentic reviews, and third-party sellers.
She is a graduate of Syracuse University, holding a BS in critical theory and a double minor in speech communication and public relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication. She is on the adjunct faculty at the award-winning DePaul University's College of Communication, and has been a Jivamukti yoga and meditation teacher for more than 20 years. Laura lives outside of Chicago with her husband, her baseball obsessed teenage son, and two big dogs.
