Lucia Lopez

Lucia Lopez is a staff attorney for the Asylum & Immigration Law Clinic’s (AILC) Legal Resources Project. She supports AILC’s community-based organizations in their legal representation of low-income immigrants and refugees, providing trainings, case consultations and technical legal assistance.
Before joining DePaul, Lucia was an immigration litigation associate in private practice, where she focused on deportation defense. She represented immigrants seeking asylum and other relief from removal in San Diego, Washington, DC, and Chicago. She has appeared before the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Executive Office for Immigration Review and United States Citizenship & Immigration Services.
Lucia began advocating for immigrants in 2006 and received the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services in 2009. She earned her JD from the University of San Diego and is licensed to practice law in Illinois and California.
