BIO

Michelle Maurer, MEd, is committed to helping future educators feel seen, supported, and confident as they move through their field experiences and student teaching journeys. As the Program Manager for Field Experience & Student Teaching, she works closely with teacher candidates, school & community partners, and faculty to facilitate placements that honor each student’s goals, strengths, and lived experiences.

Michelle’s approach is grounded in relationship‑building, empathy, and clear communication. She believes students thrive when they feel connected and when their unique paths are understood. Whether she’s guiding someone through a placement challenge, celebrating a milestone, or helping them navigate next steps, Michelle aims to make every interaction encouraging and human.

Before stepping into her current role, Michelle supported students across several areas of DePaul University, including the Chicago Teacher Residency and the Chicago Quarter program in the Office of New Student & Family Engagement. She also provided career counseling and workshop facilitation for undergraduate and graduate students at Northwestern University.

Michelle brings over 10 years of experience across arts and nonprofit administration, community programming, event coordination, marketing and design, and project management. Known for her energy, empathy, and ability to build trust with diverse groups, she is committed to creating environments rooted in collaboration, creativity, and student growth.

Michelle holds a Master of Education in Counseling - College Counseling & Student Affairs from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts in Drama with Honors in Directing from University of California, Irvine.
