Sandy Gordon

Sandy is an Emmy Award-winning producer and published author. With a BS in TV-Radio, she began her career working in the Locations Department of feature films including "Rudy," the Coen Brother’s "The Hudsucker Proxy," and John Hughes’s "Baby’s Day Out." She transferred those skills into production coordinating roles on films, broadcast network specials, national television series, and the live broadcast of the 26-camera L.A. Marathon. She also produced corporate videos and worked as production manager for both the Opening Ceremonies for World Cup Soccer and the Atlanta Paralympic Games.

Transitioning back to her hometown of Chicago, Sandy switched gears post-production producing of national and international commercials, contributing to the early growth of the renown Whitehouse Post before returning to freelance to produce for ad agencies, production companies, and post houses, while also working to develop her own unscripted television series. She joined the Illinois Production Alliance, becoming president to initially pass one of the strongest film tax credit incentives in the industry, creating a now thriving Chicago production center.

After years of advice giving to students, she put her words to paper and authored "Action! Establishing Your Career in Film & Television Production" (Applause Theatre & Cinema Books) and "Great Jobs for Film Majors" (McGraw-Hill/Contemporary Books). 

Sandy joined DePaul University in 2019, bringing her experience to the growing School of Cinematic Arts by streamlining processes and providing support to students outside of the classroom. She is also currently working to complete a master’s degree in public service management as a DePaul student.
