Bio
Vladimir Mukharlyamov is the William M. Scholl Associate Professor of Finance at DePaul University. The common thread that runs through his research is a focus on people—their actions and outcomes. This perspective applies whether he's studying private equity managers and their investment strategies, the decision-making of venture capitalists, or how past experiences shape human capital and influence careers. Vladimir is drawn to research in financial economics because it can be just as much—if not more—about people, their experiences and skills, and their impact on economic outcomes as it is about institutions.
Vladimir’s research has been published in leading finance journals and featured in major media outlets, including Bloomberg, The Economist, the Financial Times, Harvard Business Review, and The Wall Street Journal. Prior to joining DePaul, he served an Assistant Professor of Finance at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. His industry experience includes global macro at S.A.C. Capital Advisors (now Point72) and investment banking at Deutsche Bank. He holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University.
