Young-Me Lee
BIO
My research focuses on public health, preventive health behaviors, and global health as primarily related to mental health; human-centered, digital, culturally tailored interventions; emerging public health issues; and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The purpose of this research is to reduce health disparities/inequities within minority and underserved populations. Another area of research that I have focused on is developing nursing education to diversify the nursing workforce and improve patient outcomes by having a nursing profession that mirrors the population it serves. Two significant grants funded through the National Institutes of Health (Bridges Program) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (New Careers in Nursing)--both aimed at alleviating the nursing shortage, increasing the diversity of the nursing profession, and enhancing the pipeline of future nursing faculty - help to increase recruitment and retention of minority nursing students to achieve these goals. My national and international collaborative research also promotes more interdisciplinary scholarship and develops a strong base in qualitative, quantitative, literature-review-based, intervention-based, and mixed-methods research methodologies.
