Illinois Attorney General and distinguished DePaul alum Kwame Raoul (LAS '87) visited the university to speak with journalism students. The discussion is part of the Center for Journalism Integrity and Excellence's off-the-record sessions with politicians, offering journalism students unparalleled opportunities to develop their interviewing skills and prepare for their careers.
During this session, Lisa Parker’s Advanced Reporting class asked Raoul questions regarding national, state and city politics and the struggles international students face when trying to obtain student visas. Past off-the-record guests include Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, former Chicago mayors Lori Lightfoot and Rahm Emanuel, former Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.
