Steven Johnson

Steven Johnson, in addition to his accomplishments in the biotech and life science fields, is a steadfast believer in DePaul students and the transformative power of an education. His deep knowledge as an alumnus and biotech industry expert has established him as a trusted advocate and invaluable resource for the College of Science and Health. In 2015, Steve and his wife Carol created the Steven F. and Carol W. Johnson Endowment, a generous bequest gift which will provide scholarship assistance and research funding for future STEM students.

As a first-generation college student, Steve double-majored in mathematical sciences and physics at DePaul before earning a master’s degree in computer science and electrical engineering from The Ohio State University. His career has spanned co-developing breakthrough anesthesia technology, co-founding an early internet service provider, and applying his math and physics expertise daily in the biopharmaceutical sector at Pfizer and Amgen.

As a devoted DePaul alumnus, Steve has tirelessly promoted internship opportunities for students through Amgen, returned to campus to share his career insights with students, and provided advice and expertise to former Dean Gerry Koocher on behalf of the CSH Dean’s Advisory Council, on which he served for eight years. His leadership has strengthened the advisory council’s engagement with the college and solidified its success for years to come.

Currently, Steve lives in Thousand Oaks, California. He actively gives back to his community by working with at-risk youth and taking his environmental interests outdoors as the leader of a hiking group and Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Conejo Open Space Foundation, which supports and maintains the open space and trail system of the Conejo Valley. Steve's professional achievements, philanthropic generosity, and dedication to DePaul students exemplify the values of leadership and service that define the College of Science and Health.
