If your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status is "Not Meeting SAP" and extenuating circumstances have impacted your ability to meet SAP requirements, you may submit an appeal in Campus Connect to request reinstatement of your financial aid eligibility.
Appeal Deadlines
Appeal deadlines apply to the term in which you are seeking aid reinstatement (e.g., to reinstate eligibility for the Winter quarter, the deadline is February 15). Appeals submitted for a term that has already ended will be reviewed for the next upcoming term.

Appeal Requirements
A SAP appeal requires a short statement addressing the following:
- Not Meeting After a Warning Term: If you are appealing Not Meeting after your warning term, explain the circumstances that prevented you from meeting SAP requirements.
- After Probation or an Academic Plan: If you are appealing due to not meeting after a probation or academic plan term, explain why you did not meet the requirements set as a condition of the prior term’s appeal approval.
- Future Success: Describe how your situation has changed or how the issues have been addressed to ensure future success. Be as specific as possible, including corrective actions you have identified and plan to follow.
Appeals that do not directly address these points are deemed incomplete and will not be reviewed until all required items are fully addressed. If the SAP committee requests additional information, your appeal will remain incomplete until the requested information is submitted.
Sensitive Information:
It is not uncommon for SAP appeals to include sensitive information. Generally, the details of your appeal are shared only with the SAP committee or your academic advisor. However, if you disclose experiencing sex or gender-based violence, misconduct, or harassment, the chair of the SAP committee is required, under University policy and state and federal law, to report this information to DePaul’s Office of Gender Equity. This ensures you are provided with relevant resources and support options, reflecting DePaul’s commitment to care for all members of its community.
Additional Requirements for Maximum Timeframe Appeals: If you exceed the maximum timeframe, additional steps are required:
- Meet with your advisor to discuss your situation.
- Your advisor must submit an advisor form in Campus Connect, including:
- Your anticipated graduation term.
- An explanation of how many transfer hours apply toward your DePaul degree, if applicable.
- Remaining coursework.
Returning and Readmitted Students
Students returning or readmitted to DePaul after a university absence, who were not meeting SAP before their departure, may appeal by submitting a SAP Appeal for Returning Students form.
Appeal Results
Appeals are reviewed within 10 business days once all required documentation has been submitted. Within 24 hours of submitting your appeal, you will receive an email confirming receipt. Once a decision is made, you will be notified of the outcome by email within 24 hours.
