Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program is a federally funded, need-based, part-time employment program. Wages for this program are jointly funded by federal resources and DePaul University. Eligibility for federal work-study is determined based on financial need.

Participation in Federal Work-Study

Work-study wages are paid directly to participants for hours worked and are not applied to student accounts like other forms of financial aid. The hourly rate of pay is determined by the job requirements and university pay scales but will not be lower than the Chicago minimum wage. Paychecks are issued every other Friday.

The Career Center’s Office of Student Employment supports students in finding on-campus employment opportunities. While Federal Work-Study eligibility is not required for all campus positions, certain roles, particularly those at the Steans Center, are designated primarily for Federal Work-Study-eligible students.

Students interested in applying for campus positions designated for Federal Work-Study participants are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine if you qualify.
